Reducing CO2 emissions in the Nordics
As part of our business activities, we consume electricity and different types of fuel, while simultaneously producing various air emissions. We take our climate protection responsibilities seriously.
To decrease our carbon footprint, we have installed heat exchangers for the storage tanks at our Brenntag sites in Vejle, Kalundborg (Denmark) and Kalmar (Sweden). This reduces carbon dioxide emissions from heating the tanks by 266 tonnes per year while the electricity is also converted to green energy.
Brenntag in the Nordic countries is looking into a 60% reduction of its CO2 emissions over the 4 year period from 2018 to 2022. This reduction is obtained by replacing oil heating of storage tanks and production processes with electrical heat exchangers and a lot of other projects and sourcing CO2 neutral electricity.
During Q1 2022 Brenntag in the Nordic countries will complete the installation of heat exchangers at the site Kalmar, Sweden. This installation reduces the CO2 emission of the heating of the production processes by 345 tons CO2/year.
