CO2Xplorer: our cutting-edge tool for calculating Product Carbon Footprints (PCF)

 

CO2Xplorer has recently been recognized as a Winner of the ICIS Innovation Award 2024 in the category of Best Digital Innovation from a SME or Large Company, highlighting its impact on promoting transparency and emission reduction across the entire value chain.

All the CO2e savings in our low-carbon portfolio have been calculated with our tool, leveraging our TÜV certified calculation method.

Understanding Greenhouse Gases and PCF calculation

Greenhouse gases (GHGs) are major contributors to global warming and climate change.

The greenhouse gases considered in PCF calculations encompass both non-fluorinated gases, occurring naturally, such as Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Methane (CH4), and Nitrous Oxide (N2O), and fluorinated gases, primarily of human-made origin, including Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), Perfluorocarbons (PFCs), Sulphur Hexafluoride (SF6), and Nitrogen Trifluoride (NF3).
 

These emissions are accounted for at every stage of the product life cycle, from raw material extraction to product end-of-life. While CO2Xplorer covers a wide range of emission sources, it excludes GHG emissions from air transport due to their minimal contribution to Brenntag’s overall product carbon footprint.
