	Customer case: Improving performance of existing clearcoat formulation What was the challenge? One of our partners – a producer of high-quality industrial coatings – asked for our support in improving the corrosion performance of an existing clearcoat formulation. The key deliverables were for a category C3 medium (ISO 12944) at 35 microns. How we approached it Based on our large supplier network, we reached out to one of our key suppliers of acrylic resins, who have an extensive portfolio of metal protection products. The binders from our supplier were used as the starting point and was combined with industry leading anticorrosion additives and other raw materials from our product range to produce stereotypes. Outcome The prototypes were tested in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9227 and DIN EN ISO 6270-1 and the best performing formulation withstood 240 hours of exposure without blistering and with negligible corrosion. In summery we were able to develop a formulation with: - Excellent cost/performance balance - Excellent corrosion resistance - High gloss potential & durability Based on our results, we are further developing our range of anti-corrosion formulations.
